Ronda Rousey Is Yahoo’s Most Searched Athlete for 2015

Despite her undefeated streak ending at the hands of Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey is still a hot topic in the sports world: she is officially Yahoo’s most searched athlete for 2015.

Rousey led a Top 10 list that was dominated by women, as the Top 6 athletes were all female, whereas only three males made the list this year. Naturally, the men on the list are Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Tiger Woods, three men who are likely to be among the most searched athletes of any given year, much less one as eventful as this. Mayweather and Pacquiao had the most hyped fight of the century back in May, whereas Woods remains a hot topic of conversation despite his relatively disappointing year as a golfer. But the guys couldn’t compare to Rousey and her fellow listmates such as Lindsey Vonn, Maria Sharapova and Danica Patrick, as they took a commanding lead in the search rankings. Maybe it’s men searching for pics of their favorite female athletes, or maybe it’s simply a changing of the guard, as women take over and become the bigger stars of interest in the sports world. Either way, it’s an encouraging list, considering how marginalized women have been in the past when it comes to sports coverage. Check out the full list below:
