‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Teaser Trailer Takes Us Back to The Death Star (VIDEO)
The teaser trailer is here for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and we’re finally returning to the Death Star for an epic heist movie — in space!
The movie, which takes place prior to A New Hope, centers on Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a rebel who leads a team to steal the plans to the Death Star so the Rebel Alliance can find a way to destroy the space station before it can be used to enforce the Empire’s will. In the teaser, we get a taste of her rebellious spirit, in addition to her recruitment by the Rebel Alliance (featuring a spot-on Mon Mothma). It’s crazy to see the Death Star up close and in such detail, along with a recreation of the rebel base on Yavin IV. It creates a real sense of nostalgia for the original trilogy, and I could see this movie paying homage to those movies in much the same way The Force Awakens was a loose retelling of A New Hope. With that said, hopefully we get some interesting departures from the norm. This expanded cinematic universe shouldn’t solely rely on original trilogy nostalgia. Regardless, I’m stoked to see how this movie turns out, because it’s got a great cast. In addition to Jones, the film also stars Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Emmy nominee Ben Mendelsohn and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story doesn’t hit theaters until December 16, 2016, but you can watch the full teaser trailer by checking out the video below:
