Roberta Vinci Becomes Viral Sensation After U.S. Open Speech (VIDEO)
After defeating Serena Williams at the U.S. Open semifinals yesterday, in what is being called one of the biggest upsets in modern sports history, Robert Vinci has become a viral sensation. But not because of her skills on the court. Rather, she’s become all the rage due to her comments after the fact.
In her interview with Tom Rinaldi after her shocking upset, Roberta became emotional, fighting back tears and calling this the best moment of her life. However, there were a bunch of funny moments sprinkled throughout, such as when she shouts over to her coach after Rinaldi tells her she was a 300-1 underdog. Roberta also struggles to answer Rinaldi’s questions, such as “What will make this real?” Her response: “I don’t know, tell me another question, please.” But while she feels bad for Serena Williams, who was just two wins away from earning an historic Grand Slam, Roberta wouldn’t change a thing. “Today is my day! Sorry guys!” As a result of her enthusiastic interview, Roberta earned a flood of congratulations and kudos on Twitter, becoming the internet’s latest darling. And she certainly earned it.
