Rick Ross Arrested For Kidnapping and Assault
Rapper Rick Ross is headed back to the slammer.
The hip hop superstar was arrested today in Fayetteville, Ga., where he was charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault. The arrest is the result of an incident that occurred on June 7.
According to reports, Ross got into a confrontation with a groundskeeper working at one of his homes. The nature of the dispute was not revealed, but Ross reportedly pistol-whipped the man with a Glock 9MM pistol. Then, he refused to allow the groundskeeper to leave the house to have his injuries tended to, which is why Ross was also charged with kidnapping.
U.S. Marshals were contacted several days ago by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department for assistance with the arrest, as the Marshals were more readily capable of tracking the movements of Ross, who travels a lot. It was ultimately decided that today was the safest time to bust Ross, and also the best opportunity. And so, early Wednesday morning, U.S. Marshals arrested Ross at his home without incident. However, this is far from the first time this month that Ross has faced trouble with the law.
Two weeks ago, at around the same time this incident with the groundskeeper would have occurred, Ross was arrested for misdemeanor possession of Marijuana in Fayette County. While Ross might have been able to get off with probation for the assault, the prior arrest might weigh down on the rapper, to where a judge might want to hand him a harsher sentence. It’s a bit tricky to really judge this incident though, since we don’t know what really happened to warrant the assault. That said, I can’t imagine many reasons that would justify Ross assaulting the groundskeeper and then refusing to let him leave. Hopefully, the truth of the matter comes out.
