Rescue Puppy on Death’s Door Makes Remarkable Recovery, Gets His First Kisses (VIDEOS)
This boxer puppy named Libre wasn’t expected to survive past July 4th, but thanks to round the clock work from a veterinary center and lots of love, the pooch has found his forever home and even received his first kisses.
Plenty more where those came from Libre!
When he was first brought to the Speranza Animal Rescue, Libre — which means freedom — was covered in maggots, suffered from skin infections and smelled like he was rotting.
“He was emaciated, dehydrated, and limp,” said rescue founder Janine Guido. “I have never in my life seen a dog this close to death. He was literally clinging to life the first time I laid eyes on him.”
Now though he’s on the mend and is scheduled to leave the hospital next week!
Said Janine, also his soon to be owner, “He has suffered the majority of his short life. He deserves to be showered with kisses, cuddles, and hugs.”
“I promised him the first day I saw him that if he pulled through he had a forever home waiting for him. Can’t break that promise.”
