Rayvon Owen Makes Postmodern Jukebox Debut With ‘Ignition (Remix)’ Swing Cover (VIDEO)

Postmodern Jukebox has a long, storied history of working with American Idol finalists. Von Smith, Casey Abrams, Joey Cook, and Haley Reinhart have had some amazing collaborations with the retro band, turning some of the most popular contemporary hits into vintage reinventions. And Postmodern Jukebox is keeping the tradition alive with a finalist who, like Joey Cook, hails from Season 14.

Rayvon Owen teamed up with PMJ for this awesome, swingin’ version of R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)”, which is something so effortlessly cool that it’s almost kind of surreal. Rayvon was great on his Idol run, but I almost feel like I’m looking at an entirely new artist here. I’m listening to it right now, as I write this article. And it’s pretty much been on a continuous loop since I got home. Rayvon as an old school, throwback soul crooner is something I didn’t even know I wanted. But now I can’t get enough! I absolutely adored this, and I hope this is the beginning of a long, fruitful partnership between Rayvon and PMJ. You could even tell how much fun Rayvon was having with this without even watching the video. You can just hear the fun in his voice. Seriously, so impressed right now. Watch the full video below:
