Rachel Lindsay Is The First Black ‘Bachelorette’

History has been made in Bachelor Nation as Rachel Lindsay has become the first black “Bachelorette.” Host Chris Harrison made the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night.

Rachel is still trying to win Nick Viall’s heart on “The Bachelor” this season, so this is a bit of a spoiler. However, it’s really good news for diversity on this program which has been 99% white.

On Kimmel, Rachel said: “We’re a couple of weeks out from filming, we’re ready to get this started. I’m ready to find love, find a husband. I’m looking for someone who’s ready for what I’m ready for. At this point in my life, 31, I’m ready to find a husband, someone who’s ready to start a family.”

“The Bachelorette” with Rachel Lindsay premieres May 22, 2017.
