Presbyterian Church to Recognize and Perform Same-Sex Marriages
In a historic decision, the largest
Protestant group Presbyterian denomination in the U.S., the Presbyterian Church (USA), decided on Tuesday night to formally recognized gay marriage and allow same-sex couple to marry in its congregations.
The church voted to change its definition of marriage from being between “a man and a woman” to “two people, traditionally a man and a woman.”
The denomination has about 1.8 million members and around 10,000 congregations.
This is amazing news and all I can think about is: Catholics, it’s your turn.
Correction: The original version of this story incorrectly described the Presbyterian Church (USA). It is the largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S
