Phil Jackson Trolls Internet Comparing Steph Curry To Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
New York Knicks GM Phil Jackson posted a tweet about Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry comparing him to Chris Jackson aka Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
Understandably, the Internet is perplexed since most of the fans today don’t even know who Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf is.
Does Steph remind him about Mahmoud because of the same fade and beard? Or is it the 3 in their jerseys? Who knows.
Chris Jackson was the star point guard of the Denver Nuggets in the ’90s (along with Dikembe Mutombo) and made headlines when he converted to Islam and changed his name to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. He also created controversy when the refused to stand during the national anthem before games. He said that the U.S. flag was a symbol of oppression.
Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf had a moderate form of Tourette syndrome which was fascinating to see while he was playing.
I thought Abdul-Rauf was a great player (I was a HUGE fan), but I don’t think he’s in the same level as Stephen Curry now. But thanks Phil Jackson for bringing back the memories!
