Pedals the Bipedal Bear Spotted Again in New Jersey (VIDEO)
Pedals, the bipedal bear who went viral back in 2014 has been spotted yet again in New Jersey!
The injured bear — who is forced to walk upright due to a paw injury and a partial limb — was filmed earlier this week near the golf course in Oak Ridge, N.J. on the Old Woodland trail after falling off the radar for months.
The video itself was shared by the community group Pedals the Injured Bipedal Bear, who wrote on their Facebook page:
AS OF RIGHT NOW WE WILL ONLY BE MONITORING PEDALS CONDITION AND POSTING UPDATES. WE WILL NOT BE ACTIVELY BE PURSUING HIS RELOCATION TO A SANCTUARY. MANY OF YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE FOUGHT AN UPHILL BATTLE AND HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL AVENUES. IF PEDALS CONDITION DETERIORATES WE WILL FILE A REPORT WITH THE NJDFW. THE OPTION WILL REMAIN FOR HIM TO BE RELOCATED TO A SANCTUARY IF THE NJDFW EVER DEEMS IT NECESSARY BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW THEY DO NOT FEEL HE NEEDS HELP. WE APPRECIATE ALL SUGGESTIONS AND ADVICE BUT WE REALLY HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING.
If you have questions regarding his injuries, status or what we have or haven’t tried the answers are all here on this page.
*He is still in the wild.
*No we cannot and will not feed him.
*No we cannot and will not trap him and bring him to a sanctuary on our own.
*Yes he has been all over the news across the World and the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife still has not changed their minds. They have vehemently refused to allow him to get help.
*Yes we have contacted all politicians in our area as well as major celebrities.
*Yes we ran a petition that was hand delivered with over 300,000 signatures back in November.
*Yes we contacted legal defense associations.
*Yes we had an amazing sanctuary step up and offer him a home. They were denied by the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife because they feel he is fine.
*Bottom line, without the approval of the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife no one can help Pedals, they hold total jurisdiction. If you want to know why they think he is fine please contact them.
