Oscars 2017 Announce Wrong Winner For Best Picture On Live TV (VIDEO)
Oscars 2017 pulled a Steve Harvey Miss Universe blunder and announced the wrong winner for Best Picture.
Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the wrong card and read “La La Land” for Best Picture. It turns out that “Moonlight” had won. What a disaster!
After the producers of “La La Land” gave their speeches, host Jimmy Kimmel and Warren Beatty came back on stage to explain what happened.
In the envelope was clearly a card that said “Moonlight.” Apparently, Warren Beatty was handed another card that said “Emma Stone, La La Land”. You can hear him whisper to Faye Dunaway “It says Emma Stone” in the beginning.
The reactions were fast and furious on social media with this Tweet putting everything together nicely:
In true form, La La Land only won Best Picture in a fantasy moment shared between former lovers imagining wistfully what might have been.
