Oscar Pistorius May Not Be Released from Prison This Friday After All

Oscar Pistorius was all set to be released from prison this Friday (Aug 21) but the decision may be overturned.

The runner — who has served a mere 10-months of a five year prison sentence — was charged with culpable homicide in the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

A South African judge put his early release on hold today (Aug. 19) following some protocol errors.

To summarize: the case will have to be reviewed again as the athlete was “moved to house arrest too soon.”

While he is eligible for “correctional supervision” after serving one-sixth of his five years behind bars,” at the time the decision was made Mr Pistorius had served only over six months of his sentence.”

When he is released (although it’s unclear when the parole board will discuss the matter again), Pistorius will be serve the remainder of his sentence in his Uncle’s mansion.

Really South African justice system? Really?
