NBC Announces 2015 Fall Schedule: ‘Heroes Reborn’, Neil Patrick Harris Show, More

NBC revealed its fall schedule for 2015 at the network’s Upfronts yesterday, and the lineup is far less varied now that the network has pretty much bailed on half-hour comedies altogether, save for two series on Friday nights. Still, the cancellation of shows like Constantine, State of Affairs, and About a Boy leaves room for NBC to take a few risks in the form of ambitious new dramas and hotly-anticipated revivals.

Naturally, The Voice is remaining on Monday and Tuesday. Mondays will see the show serving as a lead-in to new drama Blindspot, which stars Thor‘s Jaimie Alexander as an amnesiac, tattooed woman whose tattoos contain clues to weekly crimes the FBI will have to solve. I have no idea how this is supposed to work, but I’m mildly intrigued by the premise, so let’s just roll with it.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s live results show for The Voice will be paired up with the new Neil Patrick Harris variety show airing through November, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris. Joining them in the lineup is brand new medical drama Heartbreaker and the returning Chicago Fire, which will take over once Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris completes its run in November.

Meanwhile, The Mysteries of Laura has earned a surprise renewal to keep NBC’s “Woman Crush Wednesdays” alive for another season, while Heroes Reborn will anchor Thursday nights alongside The Blacklist and Wesley Snipers-starring action drama The Player.

As for comedies, the all-live third season of Undateable will air on Fridays, essentially bringing an end to NBC’s Friday night all-horror/supernatural lineup. But then, that theme was already killed off by the return of Dateline to 10:00 PM. Undateable will be paired with the Mark-Paul Gosselaar couples comedy, People Are Talking, making this hour-long block the only instance of traditional sitcoms on the network, outside of the upcoming Coach revival with Craig T. Nelson, a move I still don’t entirely get.
