Natalie Cole’s Cause of Death Revealed By Her Family

Grammy-winning singer Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat “King” Cole) passed away last Thursday (Dec. 31) at the age of 65.

According to her family, Cole died of heart failure brought on by lung disease.

They revealed in a statement, “[Cole] responded well to pulmonary arterial hypertension-specific agents over many years, during which she performed many concerts world-wide, but eventually succumbed to intractable right heart failure, an outcome that unfortunately commonly occurs in this progressive disorder.”

In addition to a kidney transplant in 2009, the singer also battled with hepatitis caused by her substance abuse issues.

Said the family at the time of Cole’s death, “Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived … with dignity, strength and honor.”
