‘The Mysteries of Laura’ To Feature ‘Will & Grace’ Reunion
NBC is using one of its most popular comedies of the past 20 years to give a boost to its newest Wednesday night crime procedural.
McCormack will play Dr. Andrew Devlin, Laura’s ex-fiance, who is described as a “roguish, arrogant-as-can-be heart surgeon.” The episode centers around the murder of Andrew’s ex-wife, which Laura is investigating. There’s no word just yet on when the episode will air.
This reunion comes almost nine years after the final episode of Will & Grace, which depicted Debra Messing as a single woman making a life in New York City alongside her gay best friend played by McCormack. It ran for eight seasons and was a staple of NBC’s Must See Thursday night comedy lineup, becoming one of the most popular shows NBC has ever run. While this reunion is a one-off thing, NBC is hoping some of that popularity rubs off, although the show seems to be doing just fine. The show is NBC’s best-rated in-season regularly scheduled program in total viewers in over five years when compared against all regularly scheduled competition in the Wednesday 8-9pm hour. Still, I doubt having a little Will & Grace on the show can hurt.
