Mitch McConnell: Dems Need To ‘Grow Up’ and Confirm Trump Nominees Despite Conflict Of Interest
In a stunning display of hypocrisy, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Sunday that the Senate Democrats need to “grow up” and confirm Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees – even if there are questions regarding their backgrounds.
McConnell called these “questions” merely “procedural complaints” and downplayed recent statements by Democrats to slow down the hearing process. Over the weekend, Sen. Elizabeth Warren said there would be no hearings until Trump’s appointees are screened for conflict of interest. It was revealed that the Office of Government Ethics “had lost contact” with the Trump transition team regarding the matter since the election.
McConnell said: “So all of these little procedural complaints are related to their frustration at having not only lost the White House, but having lost the Senate. I understand that. But we need to, sort of, grow up here and get past that.”
This is an extraordinary statement considering McConnell led the GOP in obstructing almost every single nominee of President Obama for the last 8 years.
