Mississippi Declares April ‘Confederate Heritage Month’
This April 2016, white people in Mississippi are celebrating their “Confederate Heritage” after Gov. Phil Bryant made a proclamation at the Sons of the Confederacy website a few weeks ago.
The governor’s chief of communications Clay Chandler said: “Like his predecessors — both Republican and Democrat — who issued similar proclamations, Gov. Bryant believes Mississippi’s history deserves study and reflection, no matter how unpleasant or complicated parts of it may be. Like the proclamation says, gaining insight from our mistakes and successes will help us move forward.”
These “complications” of course include slavery which the Confederacy went to war for.
