Miss Colombia Joins FOX’s New Year’s Revolution With Pitbull

FOX is looking to give Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve a run for its money with Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution. And they’re bringing in one of the more buzzworthy personalities in pop culture from late 2015: Miss Colombia from the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.

Ariadna Gutierrez, 2015’s Miss Colombia whom Steve Harvey mistakenly announced as the winner of the Miss Universe pageant, is joining a list of scheduled guests that includes Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Yazz, Timbaland, Christina Milian, Kal Penn, Jordin Sparks, Yandel, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. What, exactly, she’ll be doing on the show is anyone’s guess. But I would imagine Pitbull and co. would check in with her to see how she’s doing in the aftermath of the Miss Universe flub. Or maybe she’ll give her thoughts on Steve Harvey being confirmed to host the Miss Universe pageant for the next three years.

If nothing else, I’d like to hear her thoughts on Harvey deciding to joke about it over the holidays. Everybody makes mistakes, of course. But I can’t imagine it’s fun for Miss Colombia to realize Harvey is already making light of what had to be a painful moment for her. Then again, Miss Colombia hasn’t exactly been shy about expressing her live and let live attitude in the immediate aftermath of Harvey’s mistake.

Ultimately, I think Gutierrez’s profile is higher now than it would have been if she’d won outright. Hopefully, she can transition this into big things, provided she has wide support and not just temporary sympathy supporters. Regardless, Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution should be a fun show.
