Surprise! The First Lady visited the gardens under the tender care of the students of John Burroughs Elementary. Each winter the students plant seeds and learn about how fruits and vegetables grow outside their classroom windows. And they showed the First Lady the magic of worm composting as worms break down food waste and return the nutrients to the soil. #LetsMove

Hello, Watkins Elementary School! These students received some garden goodies during a surprise visit from the First Lady to help get their school garden started this year. Watkins is home to a bountiful schoolyard garden that helps teach students about the benefits of local sourced food. The First Lady helped the students whip up Three Sisters tacos, making corn tortillas from scratch with a side of kale salad using kale harvested from the school garden. #LetsMove
