Metropolitan Museum of Art Bans Selfie Sticks
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has joined a growing number of museums banning selfie sticks.
The reason may be surprising to some. I would assume that it was because it’s annoying to be in the presence of these douchebags carrying these things around. Apparently, it’s because the selfie sticks are “dangerous to other visitors and the artwork,” according to a NY Times report.
Fine. I’ll take any reason to get these things off the streets.
Some museums that have banned the selfie stick:
Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum
National Gallery of Art
Museum of Fine Arts in Houston
Sculpture Garden in Washington
Signs banning the selfie stick will be posted soon around the Met.
