Mark Webber Announces Decision To Retire From Racing
Mark Webber is one of the most recognizable names in professional racing, with a career that spans Formula One and World Endurance Championship runs. However, Webber has finally announced his intention to retire from racing after the upcoming 6 Hours of Bahrain event.
Webber will retire in order to accept a representative role with Porsche. The outspoken Australian racer explained, in a press release:
“I will miss the sheer speed, downforce and competition, but I want to leave on a high and I’m very much looking forward to my new tasks.”
In his capacity as a Porsche representative, Webber will attend events, perform talent research and assist in driver training, which doesn’t sound like a bad gig for a guy who’s just 40-years-old. It allows him to continue being involved with a profession he loves, while still getting to travel the world.
