Man Who Robbed ‘American Idol’ Winner Scotty McCreery Pleads Guilty
The man who allegedly robbed American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Mikkhail Shaw pleaded guilty to eight counts, including first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. His plea was entered Monday in Wake County, North Carolina. Shaw will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m on Tuesday.
According to Scotty, who recounts the horrifying robbery in his new memoir, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, he and a couple friends were out grabbing pizza one night, when Shaw and his accomplices attacked the group, with one man pointing a pistol at Scotty’s head. Luckily, the confrontation ended without anyone getting hurt. But it easily could have gone in the other direction.
While I understand some people get desperate in times of need, I don’t particularly have sympathy for Shaw or his accomplices, in all this. It’s miraculous that things didn’t go south, since there were guns involved. This could have easily ended in tragedy.
