Lupita Nyong’o Pearl Dress Returned, Thief Calls It a ‘Fake’
Lupita Nyong’o‘s Oscar gown has been returned — but not after the thief called it a “fake.” The gown, which was covered in pearls, was stolen two days ago at the The London West Hollywood hotel. The thief called TMZ on Friday giving the location of the dress where it is now in the custody of the police.
It turns out the thief took two pearls off the dress and had it checked in the LA garment district downtown, where it was determined that the pearls were not real.
A police report for the stolen Calvin Klein dress said that it was worth $150,000. The thief adamantly tells TMZ however that it’s almost worthless.
