Luke Mitchell Joins ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

We’re just a few weeks away from the return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as the show is set to kick off the second half of its second season on Tuesday, March 3. But with that return will come a new character, to be played by one of the stars of The Tomorrow People.

Luke Mitchell will join the ABC drama in a recurring role as one of the Inhumans. In this case, he’ll play Lincoln, “a charismatic Inhuman who has an important role in helping Skye (Chloe Bennet) understand the true extent of her transformation.”

Naturally, this is a huge role for Mitchell, as the series delves deeper into Marvel lore. In the midseason finale, we learned that Skye is actually Daisy Johnson, otherwise known as Quake in the comic books. Much like Lincoln, Skye is an Inhuman, part of the race of people who’ve been genetically enhanced by the alien Kree. Not much else is known about Lincoln, but his presence will help lay the groundwork for the presence of the Inhumans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Marvel Studios is planning to release an Inhumans movie in 2018, as part of Phase 3 of the MCU.

Mitchell is an energetic actor, and his presence should add a lot to the ensemble, which is thinning a bit following the tragic death of one of the team members in the midseason finale. Hopefully, the show continues its deeper dive into Marvel lore, especially with the Kree and the Inhumans becoming more prominent as the season moves forward.
