‘Longmire’ Season 4 Premiering on Netflix In September
Longmire fans will soon have cause to rejoice.
Netflix has announced that Longmire Season 4 will premiere on September 10. This, after A&E canceled the series following its third season, sparking fan outrage and grassroots efforts to get the series revived. Netflix stepped up to the plate and revived the series for a fourth season, and the rest is history, as Longmire will live to fight another day. With only a month ago until the 10-episode fourth season premieres, expect Netflix to start the promotional push sooner rather than later.
But why should you watch?
Well, Longmire is based on the Walt Longmire Mysteries book series by Craig Johnson, and while that suggests a far-reaching mythology that could potentially make the series hard to get into, it’s actually one of the more accessible series on television. The performances are also uniformly strong, anchored by Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, a Wyoming sheriff who feels like a living monument to the old, rugged ways of law enforcement. It’s really a great series, and an interesting version of a modern Western, with a dash of procedural flair thrown in. Sure, there are serialized storylines, but anyone can jump in and start enjoying this show, which is largely why it works so well. Its revival is well-deserved and well-earned, and kudos to Netflix for the rescue.
