‘Lip Sync Battle’ Renewed for Second Season
Spike TV has a real hit on its hands, so it’s easy to see why they’d stick with it.
Lip Sync Battle has been renewed for a second season by the network, owing to its fantastic ratings and online buzz. Basically, Lip Sync Battle is the most-watched original series in the history of the network, earning an average of 3 million viewers each week, and coming in #1 in its time slot in all of cable in the coveted Adults 18-49 demographic. In just one month, the show has gained over 107 million video streams online, with Anne Hathaway’s performance of “Wrecking Ball” earning 14 million views alone.
“Lip Sync Battle is a television and viral rock star for Spike,” proclaimed Spike TV president Kevin Kay. “We are thrilled to be renewing Lip Sync Battle whose success is a direct result of the brilliance and creativity of our producers, the brave performers, and of course the coolest new duo on television, LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen.”
Lip Sync Battle will be back for another 20 episodes in 2016. But until then, you can check out the show every Thursday night at 10/9c on Spike. Tomorrow night’s battle pits Terry Crews against Mike Tyson. You can watch a preview video for it here. All in all, this is pretty great news for Spike, and for people who like seeing famous people get down to Earth and poke fun at themselves.
