Lindsay Lohan + Mom Dina Sue Fox for Claiming They Do Coke Together
Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina were nonplussed by an offhanded comment from a guest on Fox News, who claimed they use cocaine together.
So much so that they filed a lawsuit in response to the remark on Monday (Feb. 2).
According to paperwork obtained by E! Online, in addition to the network, the suit is also taking aim at Sean Hannity and Michelle Fields as the comment was made by Fields while on the Feb. 4 episode of Hannity. That’s Feb. 4 of 2014.
During a segment a mere two days after the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman from an overdose, Fields and Hannity discussed celebrities who might follow in his footsteps.
Said Fields at the time, “Lindsay’s mom is doing cocaine with her.”
Apparently the duo had sent a letter on Feb. 18 demanding a retraction and for the video clip of the comment to be removed from the Fox website along with a related blog post.
The latter demands were met (Fields’ comments were deemed unverified) but not the former.
The Lohans are seeking compensatory and punitive damages and claim they have suffered “and will continue to suffer severe mental and emotional distress; embarrassment and humiliation; pain and suffering; and economic loss, including loss of income, entertainment and acting contracts, present and future diminished income and economic opportunities.”
Lawyers for the Lohan clan would go on to allege that Fields’ remark was “outrageously slanderous and defamatory,” “inappropriately and shockingly stated” as well as “false.”
Said a Fox News spokesperson in a statement, “We will defend this case to the fullest. The remark about which Lindsay and Dina Lohan complain was made on live television by a guest nearly a year ago. We removed the segment from our archives altogether last February and also apologized on-air. At that time, the Lohans did not make any demands for money, and we are surprised they are doing so now.”
