Liam Payne Vows One Direction Will ‘Work Together Again’
One Direction is going on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean the group is breaking up. At least not officially.
In his feature interview for Attitude magazine this month, Liam Payne vowed that One Direction would reunite down the road, and pick up where they left off.
“I realize now this is the time to start branching out and exploring,” Liam said in the interview. “This won’t last forever, and there will be a point when we will break off and do our own things, but… we will work together again.”
He would go on to express his desire to go into songwriting, production, and more as a solo artist, noting that his cover shoot for Attitude magazine was the first thing he’s done solo since One Direction took off. However, that’s with good reason: Liam himself admits that he’s never really thought about a solo career post-One Direction.
“A lot of people say to me, ‘Oh, you’ll go solo,’ but I haven’t thought about that. If the right song comes along and I think I should sing it, then I will release it as a solo artist. Otherwise, I’m happy being behind the scenes. When the others boys [in the group] go solo, I would love to write songs for them. I want to make great music that people want to listen to.”
So while it may appear as though One Direction is calling it quits, it’s apparent that the boys will still be heavily involved in each other’s careers. If nothing else, fans still have a fifth album to look forward to before the big break. Here’s hoping it gives them the type of send-off that leaves fans wanting more.
