‘La La Land’ Leads BAFTA Award Nominations With 11

La La Land is continuing to raise its status as an awards season juggernaut, as the musical leads the BAFTA Award nominations with 11, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Film.

Following La La Land in the tally are Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, which earned nine nominations apiece. Critics favorite Manchester By the Sea earned six nods. It’s a pretty stacked lineup, with some similarly big surprises. Golden Globes winner Isabelle Hupert is nowhere to be found in the Best Actress category, nor is the film in which she starred, Elle. Also, outside of a lone nomination for Viola Davis in the Supporting Actress category, Fences was shutout, as Denzel Washington failed to make the Best Actor lineup. It’s hard to know what this means for the Oscar chances of those who’ve been snubbed, but it’s clear that there is a lot of competition this year, despite the apparent dominance of La La Land in the nominations.

We won’t find out who wins until the BAFTA Awards take place on February 12th, but you can check out the complete list of nominations below:
