Kraft Mac & Cheese Will No Longer Be Neon Orange
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese will no longer be bright orange as the company announced that it is removing artificial preservatives and synthetic colors from its iconic food product.
Everything will change, including Easy Mac and the microwaveable line, starting in 2016.
So what’s going out? Dyes Yellow Nos. 5 and 6. What’s going in? Paprika, annatto and turmeric.
The company says the taste will not change, but I doubt it. Paprika, annatto and turmeric have strong flavors. Better stock up on your mac and cheese boxes now before they stop producing the original.
The change comes in response to a petition on Change.org which got 365,000 signatures.
“Consumers have been telling us, and parents in particular, that they want to feel good about the foods that they eat and that they serve their families,” said Triona Schmelter, Kraft’s vice president of marketing for meals.
