Koryn Hawthorne releases ‘Bright Fire’ music video
Koryn Hawthorne is one of two finalists on Team Pharrell this season on The Voice, and it’s relatively easy to see why she made the finale, considering the overall strength of her resume over the course of the competition, from emotional dirges like “Make It Rain” to spiritual showstoppers such as “Oh Mary Don’t You Weep”. But now, she’s putting her talents to an uptempo beat, as her potential winner’s single is the Pharrell-penned “Bright Fire”.
The track has been divisive among plenty of fans since she performed it on the show, but I honestly love it. It’s arguably the most radio-ready of the four original singles we heard tonight (although I’d actually give the edge to Koryn’s fellow teammate Sawyer Fredericks for his track, “Please”). It certainly helps that she sounds great on it too. No contestant this season has shown the amount of growth Koryn has this season, so seeing her come this far is actually kind of surreal, although I can’t imagine it’s any less surreal for her. Either way, I’m happy for her, and I’ve already bought this track on iTunes.
