Kaya Scodelario Is Frontrunner for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Female Lead
The fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie is looking to one of the stars of The Maze Runner for its female lead.
Kaya Scodelario is in early talks for the female lead role in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. A star of the UK hit series Skins, Scodelario had her breakout role stateside late last year in The Maze Runner. She’s currently filming the sequel, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, yet this hasn’t prevented her from being able to negotiate her next big franchise role.
Directed by the Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the helmers behind Oscar nominated foreign-language epic Kon-Tiki, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will feature Johnny Depp returning in his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush returning as Barbaossa, and Orlando Bloom making an unexpected return to the franchise as Will Turner. Oscar winner Javier Bardem is also joining the cast as a franchise newcomer.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
