Jon Stewart to Host WWE Summerslam 2015

Jon Stewart has left The Daily Show…to get in a WWE ring?!

Yes, it’s true! Jon Stewart will host WWE Summerslam 2015 this Sunday, in his first major gig since the end of his 16-year run on The Daily Show on August 6th. It isn’t exactly a huge shock that Stewart is doing this, considering he’s a longtime wrestling fan who even appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw earlier this year to continue his onscreen rivalry with WWE Champion Seth Rollins (an amusing feud that all started on social media).

However, Stewart won’t be the only big name heading to Summerslam, as Arrow star Stephen Amell will make his in-ring debut, teaming with high-flyer Neville to take on Stardust and Bad News Barrett in a tag team match. Also on the card is Seth Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a title vs. title match against United States champion John Cena. In the main event, The Undertaker will battle Brock Lesnar in an attempt to avenge the loss of his Wrestlemania undefeated streak at Wrestlemania 30 last year.

WWE Summerslam airs live this Sunday from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The show starts at 7:00 PM ET on the WWE Network, an online, over-the-top subscription service.

It should be interesting to see what Jon Stewart does on the show, since what his duties as host actually entail aren’t exactly known. Still, Stewart has an amazing sense of humor about himself, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do more than expected of him as host. After all, he does love professional wrestling.
