Joe Manganiello Cast As Deathstroke In Ben Affleck ‘Batman’ Movie

Batman has found his Deathstroke! True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello has been cast opposite Ben Affleck in the upcoming Batman solo movie.

Rumors that Deathstroke would be the villain for the solo Batman movie surfaced once Affleck tweeted a video of the villain on the set in his full outfit/armor. However, there was no indication who was underneath the mask. That is, until now.

The news was confirmed by DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns in a recent interview discussing his role as the overseer of the DC Cinematic Universe. However, he would not confirm if Deathstroke would appear in the Justice League film, which is due to release prior to the solo Batman movie.

All in all, I think this is pretty solid casting. Manganiello has a raw physicality to him that makes him both imposing and believable as a world-class warrior. I’m excited to see what he could do in the role, although he has big shoes to fill from Manu Bennett’s portrayal of Slade Wilson/Deathstroke on Arrow. But I’m confident he’ll surprise a lot of people in the part.
