Jade Roper Puts ‘The Bachelor’ Nick Viall On Blast (VIDEO)
Bachelor In Paradise star Jade Roper is putting Nick Viall on blast for what he said to her Maid of Honor, Liz, on the season premiere of The Bachelor.
Nick and Liz had a one night stand at Jade and Tanner Tolbert’s wedding last year, but when Nick asked for Liz’s number, she turned him down. So when Liz showed up on The Bachelor, Nick questioned her motives, since she hadn’t shown interest in pursuing a relationship until he was announced as The Bachelor. But Jade thinks Nick was being unfair, opening up about the entire situation in a brief interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“She had talked to me about it before she went on [the show], and I kind of tried to prep her for it and I’m proud of her for doing it. I feel like it’s really brave,” Jade said. “She really did have an interest in Nick and she went there to see if there was anything and I totally support her.”
She added that it wasn’t entirely Liz’s job to get in contact with Nick if he was developing feelings for her.
“I’ve heard a little bit and I know the whole situation is awkward, but I’ll say I’m a little disappointed… He could’ve gotten her number, too,” Jade stated. She didn’t really think about him till a couple months after because she kind of started seeing somebody else during the summer. Things happen. And, actually, we did a charity event in Kansas city, and [we invited Viall] and he was like, ‘I have certain things that are in the works, I don’t know if I can make it.] So she wanted to invite him.”
For his part, Nick responded through ET, teasing that we’ll get more on the situation in Monday’s episode:
“I would totally disagree with Jade,” Nick told ET. “I definitely wanted to give [Liz] that time and consideration. And next week, you’ll see how that conversation goes in its entirety.”
Ultimately, I’m not sure what Jade really expected. Had Nick gone out of his way to get Liz’s number after she had explicitly rejected him, it would have come off as creepy and desperate. Liz made it clear she didn’t want to pursue things with Nick after their one night stand, and he respected her decision. So it’s only natural for him to question her motives once she suddenly appears as a contestant on his season, because the implication is that she wasn’t interested in him until he became The Bachelor. Whether that’s true or not is anyone’s guess, but I suppose we’ll find out more about this as the season continues. But I certainly don’t blame Nick for calling out Liz the way he did.
But what do you think of the Nick/Liz situation? Was Nick right to question Liz’s motives? Sound off in the comments!
