‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Jack Gleeson Wrote a Play Called ‘Bears in Space’
Where is King Joffrey now? After his celebrated demise on Game of Thrones, actor Jack Gleeson hung up his crown and retired from acting. Sort of.
The 23-year-old former actor will star in a play he co-created called Bears in Space, with the Collapsing Horse Theatre Company (a theatre company he formed).
The plot — you guessed it — bears. In space.
More specifically, according to a friend, “It is about two bears in an intergalactic space ship who have just thawed from cryogenic stasis. It’s a journey of self-discovery for them and ultimately a story about love and friendship.”
Also, it involves puppets.
“I don’t really see this as acting,” Gleeson explained in the interview about his creation. “It’s more like a fun project with friends.”
Said Gleeson after his departure from Thrones and his decision to leave the game, “When you make a living from something, it changes your relationship with it. It’s not like I hate it, it’s just not what I want to do.”
Bears in Space‘s next stop is the Soho Theatre in London starting August 3.
