Ian McKellen + Patrick Stewart Won’t Be in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

In what seems like an incredibly bad move, it’s been revealed that both Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart won’t be taking part in the next X-Men film, X-Men: Apocalypse.

The stars have been present in all the other films in the franchise (even that one that shall not be named) as Magneto and Professor Xavier, respectively.

The news was revealed by Stewart himself, who said to Larry King about appearing in the next sequel, “No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either.”

“I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters… And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”

Apocalypse will be set in the 1980s and is seeking to recast many of the actors with their younger counterparts.

The film (which is being directed by Bryan Singer) currently has a  May 27, 2016 release date.
