Hulk Hogan Shoots Down WWE Return Rumors, Claims Daughter Lied
Hulk Hogan was rumored to be returning to WWE earlier this week, in reports that claimed he would be back for Wrestlemania 33. These rumors originated after Hulk’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, told TMZ that WWE had been in contact with her father. However, as it turns out, Brooke might not have been entirely forthcoming.
Hogan appeared on Eric Bischoff’s new MLW Radio podcast to address Brooke spreading the rumor about his WWE return to TMZ. In essence, he straight-up accused Brooke of lying, and revealed that it was a calculated move on his daughter’s part to drum up interest in a possible WWE return.
“Brooke’s running around on TMZ and made the statement about me and wrestling and WrestleMania. For the record, she needs the big boot to the head,” Hogan said. “I haven’t talked to anybody about WrestleMania. I just need to put that to rest.
However, there are no hard feelings on Hogan’s part, as he understands his daughter was just trying to get him back into WWE’s good graces.
“I asked Brooke, ‘What are you doing?’ She goes, ‘Oh, well, I’m just starting it up.’ I said, ‘Thanks Brooke.’ It was kind of funny. I said, ‘No harm. No foul.’ It was all in good fun.”
Of course, Hogan could just be covering up in order to keep a possible WWE return under wraps. But right now, it doesn’t seem that way. I can appreciate what Brooke was going for, but you’d have to think a reasonable person would realize it wasn’t the smartest thing in the world to put her dad’s name out there. WWE could have gone after Hulk for trying to spread rumors about false negotiations, particularly if the company caught heat from for considering taking the Hulkster back. A lot of fans have forgiven him for his racially charged rants, but others have not, so it could still be a touchy subject to bring him back. On the one hand, WWE might listen to fans if there was an overwhelming movement to bring him back, but the company also still has shareholders to consider. This Hogan situation is interesting to me, and I’m intrigued to see if they’ll actually bring him back, and if fans actually do want him back at all.
But what do you think about the Hogan situation? Should WWE bring him back or should they leave it alone? Sound off in the comments!
