Huge ‘Monday Night War’ Star Announced for WWE 2K17 Video Game (VIDEO)
All week, WWE has been teasing the opening of the “Hatch”, a vault that’s been kept sealed on social media until tonight’s episode of Raw. There were theories being thrown out left and right, such as Finn Balor possibly debuting from NXT, or Shinsuke Nakamura potentially making his main roster debut. However, the answer ended up being much more straightforward.
The Hatch opened to reveal Bill Goldberg, one of the biggest stars of the Monday Night War. However, this isn’t the announcement of Goldberg’s return to the ring, but rather his return to the video game world, as he’s been announced as the first official pre-order bonus for WWE 2K17, due out this fall.
With that said, I wouldn’t necessarily rule out a possible Goldberg return, if only because having Ultimate Warrior announced as the pre-order bonus for WWE 2K14 ended up foreshadowing his return to the company for a Hall of Fame induction. If Goldberg is inducted into the Hall of Fame on the weekend of Wrestlemania 33, I wouldn’t put it past WWE to try and get him to do one more match on the big show, even if it’s just an appearance in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It should be interesting to see what this means, whether this is Goldberg making a new relationship with WWE, or if he’s simply making a deal with 2K Sports and nothing more. But for now, check out the announcement trailer below:
