Honorary WWE Superstar Drax Shadow Dead at 9
Sad news in the world of pro wrestling today: honorary WWE superstar Elijah Mainville, who was signed to a contract under the name Drax Shadow, has died at the age of 9 after a six-year battle with neuroblastoma.
Elijah was moved to hospice care over the weekend, and passed away at 10:15 pm on Sunday night. His family shared the news in an emotional Facebook post that also includes a loving reference to the late WWE Hall of Famer Conor “The Crusher” Michalek, who passed away from cancer in 2014 at age 8.
WWE signed Elijah to an honorary contract after he submitted an incredible submission video for Tough Enough. During his time with WWE, Cody “Stardust” Rhodes teamed with Stephen Amell to help raise money for Elijah’s cancer battle. Elijah then received his own Drax Shadow action figure, which ended up being one of the cooler figures WWE made that year.
Sadly, Elijah’s family is facing an uphill battle for his funeral costs, and have set up a GoFundMe page to help with the expenses. You can donate by clicking here.
Our hearts go out to Elijah’s family and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time. Rest in peace, Elijah.
