Honey G Replaces Ivy Grace Paredes on The X Factor UK 2016

Last week, it was revealed that potential frontrunner Ivy Grace Paredes was forced to drop out of The X Factor UK 2016 due to visa issues. That leaves a void in the Over 25s category for Sharon Osbourne. But Sharon is filling that vacancy with a pretty shocking pick.

Yes, rapper Honey G has been chosen to replace Ivy Grace in the Over 25s category for The X Factor UK Season 13. As a result, Honey G will advance to Judges’ Houses, which will air this coming weekend on ITV in The UK, and AXS TV in the United States. Honey G joins fellow Over 25s contenders Samantha Atkinson, Relley C, Janet Grogan, James Wilson, Christopher Peyton, and the Wildcard pick selected by Boys mentor Nicole Scherzinger, Finnish singer Saara Alto.

Judges’ houses are shaping up to be the most controversial yet, since fans are pretty much up-in-arms about some of these picks. Check out the full Top 24 List + Wildcards below:

Nicole Scherzinger’s Boys include: James Hughes, Nate Simpson, Christian Burrows, Matt Terry, Niall Sexton, Freddy Parker and wildcard Ryan Lawrie

Simon Cowell’s Girls include: Soheila Clifford, Kayleigh Marie Morgan, Caitlyn Vanbeck, Gifty Louise, Emily Middlemas, Olivia Garcia and wildcard Samantha Lavery

Louis Walsh’s Groups include: Scarl3t, 4 of Diamonds, The Brooks, 5am, Tom and Laura, Ottavio and Bradley and wildcard Yes Lad

Sharon Osbourne’s Over 25s include Samantha Atkinson, Relley C, Janet Grogan, James Wilson, Christopher Peyton, Honey G and wildcard Saara Alto

Honestly, I get that the show loves novelty acts, but we’re already going to get a novelty act in the live shows with Ottavio and Bradley (come on, you KNOW Louis is going to put them through). Why do we need to risk having two in one season? Do we really need another Wagner that badly? I get that novelty acts can be entertaining, but I’m good with just one. Especially when you consider how stacked Sharon’s category is, it makes even less sense to even consider Honey G. Hell, give Analisa Lamola an opportunity! Honey G isn’t going to show you anything new with a different song, but Analisa really could have benefited from a new song pick. I’m disappointed in this choice, although I’m cool with the other wildcards.
