HBO’s ‘Girls’ To End After Season Six

HBO’s Girls is heading into its fifth season, but the show is already preparing for the end. While HBO has declined comment, sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Lena Dunham and Judd Apatow’s comedy series will end after season six.

The show has yet to actually be renewed for Season 6, but Girls has long been one of the centerpieces of HBO’s comedy lineup, so a renewal is more than likely. In the past, the show has been a solid awards season performer for HBO, even though its ratings have never exactly been great. Granted, it hasn’t been particularly strong in the awards races this year, but with Adam Driver on the rise due to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I would imagine the show has the potential to draw in even more viewers this season. Hell, Driver has long been one of the best reasons to watch the show in the first place.

Girls returns February 21 on HBO.
