HBO Renews ‘Getting On’ for Third and Final Season
Getting On will be getting on after Season 3.
HBO has renewed Getting On for a third and final season, consisting of six episodes. The dark comedy, centering on medical professionals at the Billy Barnes Extended Care Unit of Mount Palms Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, California, is based on a British comedy of the same name. The American version features a solid comedic ensemble including Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein and Niecy Nash, making this one of the better comedy casts on TV (although it helps that it’s a fairly lean main ensemble).
Although a critical favorite, Getting On has never exactly been a hit for HBO, but it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t deserve a proper send-off, particularly considering that Season 2 ended on the cliffhanger of whether or not the women will face racketeering charges. So, at the very least, the show will provide, for its stories, something that isn’t always provided for the patients and their families in real-life: namely, closure.
