Google To Stop Making Scary Robots, Selling Boston Dynamics
Google has seen the light: robots are not in their future. The company is selling Boston Dynamics, their division responsible for scary robot reindeer and terrifying walking humanoid robots that love boxes.
Bloomoberg reported on Thursday that though awe-inspiring that the company has come up with these products, it won’t be producing a marketable product any time soon.
Executives at Google parent Alphabet Inc., absorbed with making sure all the various companies under its corporate umbrella have plans to generate real revenue, concluded that Boston Dynamics isn’t likely to produce a marketable product in the next few years and have put the unit up for sale, according to two people familiar with the company’s plans.
The “scary robot overlords” image problem might be hard to overcome.
It’s really the stuff of nightmares. Our horror movies come alive.
