Gay Couple Gets Marriage License After Kim Davis Arrested

A day after Rowan County clerk Kim Davis was jailed by a federal judge for contempt, a gay couple was granted a marriage license. Love has won!

Kim Davis is still in jail on Friday, but a judge was able to secure commitments from her deputies that they would give out licenses.

From NY Times:

A same-sex couple received a marriage license here on Friday, the first such couple to get one a day after the county clerk, Kim Davis, was jailed by a federal judge for refusing court orders to issue the licenses.

James Yates, 41, and William Smith, Jr., 33, entered the Rowan County Courthouse shortly after it opened, walking through throngs of protesters.
