FOX Renews ‘The Last Man On Earth’ for Second Season
The end of the world will continue for the foreseeable future.
FOX has renewed The Last Man On Earth for a second season.
“We knew we had something special with THE LAST MAN ON EARTH. It’s one of those rare shows that continues to add depth and dimension to its unique premise, week after week,” said David Madden, President of the Fox Broadcasting Company. “We are so thrilled that this incredibly bold, original and inventive series has been embraced by both fans and critics, and we cannot wait to see where the creative genius and inspired vision of Will, Phil and Chris take us in Season Two.”
Starring Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, January Jones and Mel Rodriguez, The Last Man On Earth is the season’s No. 1 new comedy among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-49, as well as the No. 1 show in its time slot among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. It’s another big hit from directors/producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who’ve parlayed their massive success from The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street into a pretty successful TV career. It’s well-deserved too, as The Last Man On Earth is far better than I expected it would be from the promos. The show is downright delightful, and Forte is terrific as Phil (Schaal is also awesome as Carol, although I can’t help but hear Louise Belcher every time she speaks. Not that this is a complaint). So this renewal is certainly great news, considering the thinness of FOX’s comedy brand, at the moment (I doubt Weird Loners is going to last, and this may have just been the last season of The Mindy Project).
Congrats to the cast and crew on the renewal!
