Four of Diamonds Replaces Brooks Way on The X Factor UK 2016

Brooks Way was disqualified this week from The X Factor UK due to allegations against Josh Brooks, who allegedly beat up his girlfriend. As a result, one act is being brought back to the competition. The lucky act in question? Girl band Four of Diamonds!

The girls made it to the Judges’ House round for mentor Louis Walsh, where they delivered a really solid rendition of “Royals” by Lorde. However, they failed to make it through to Live Shows, as Louis instead chose 5 After Midnight, Brooks Way, and Bratavio, who were eliminated in the first week of live shows. Ultimately, it appears that Brooks Way was booted off the show so late that no group Louis could have brought back would have been prepared in time for the first live show this past Saturday. So Four of Diamonds is getting a bye straight to the second live show, although I doubt there will be any claims of unfairness like there was in years past, with such illness-related byes as Diana Vickers in Season 5, Lucy Spraggan in Season 9, and Miss Dynamix in Season 10.

Louis explained why he chose Four of Diamonds to return.

“I was really impressed with the girls at Judges’ Houses but only had three spots to fill for the Live Shows,” the judge stated. “At the time a lot of viewers were disappointed that I didn’t put the girls through, now that a place has opened up in my category, I’ve listened to the fans and am delighted to be bringing the girls back.”

Naturally, the girls themselves were ecstatic to be asked back.

“We are so excited to be back on The X Factor ¬≠we’re really looking forward to performing live, working hard and showing everyone what we’re made of.”

I think this is absolutely the right call, and I’m really excited to see what these girls can do. Really, they ought to have been put through to live shows in the first place, so I’m glad they’re getting their rightful opportunity to perform for the public votes. Now here’s hoping they don’t give these girls a pointless name change like they’ve been doing for every group the past few years. Best of luck to the girls!

But what do you think about Four of Diamonds being brought back? Should a different group have returned? Sound off in the comments!
