Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon Under Consideration For Trump Cabinet
President-elect Donald Trump is looking to some unexpected places for potential cabinet appointees.
Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is reportedly being considered for the job of Secretary of Commerce for president-elect Trump’s cabinet. For her part, McMahon isn’t exactly a stranger to politics, having run twice for the Senate as a Republican candidate. Both bids were unsuccessful, but she remained involved with the party, contributing to the point of being declared a GOP “mega donor”. Of course, the Trumps and the McMahons are longtime friends, with the McMahons even having Trump inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. In the 80s, Trump Plaza hosted Wrestlemania IV and Wrestlemania V, while Trump’s involvement in Wrestlemania 23 led to one of the biggest pay-per-view buyrates in company history. So even while he couldn’t take a Stone Cold Stunner worth a damn, the induction made a lot more sense than other celebrity inductions (I mean, I like Drew Carey as much as the next guy, but come on).
Despite having had her differences with Trump over his comments about women, McMahon has gone on record as viewing him as “an incredibly loyal, loyal friend” and as “a vessel that has housed this anger and this dissatisfaction” with the United States political system.
It’s true that McMahon doesn’t have the job just yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if she was appointed. She was previously linked to his transition team, and even outside of the donations, she had a hand in his campaign. The question now is whether or not McMahon is qualified for the job.
