For an Island Full of Rescue Dogs, Visit Costa Rica’s ‘Land of the Strays’ (VIDEO)
Want to visit a magical tropical island where rescue dogs run free? Look no further than Costa Rica’s no-kill Territorio de Zaguates, AKA Land of the Strays.
Even better? All the dogs living on the privately funded, volunteer-run island get plenty of love while they wait to find their forever homes.
To differentiate the 900 dogs on the island — all of which are available to adopt — the pooches are assigned their own special breed based on their physical characteristics.
Looking to take home a Chubby-Tailed German Dobernauzer, Alaskan Collie Fluffyterrier or a Fire-Tailed Border Cocker?
According to local billboards advertising the Land of Strays, “When you adopt a mutt, you adopt a unique breed.”
