Firefighters Rescue Bear Cub They Dub Smokey Jr. (VIDEO)
Florida firefighters saved an adorable bear cub from a forest fire yesterday (April 7), bestowing upon him the name Smokey Jr., or SJ for short.
“A resident in the area saw the bear and brought it to the attention of the firefighters, and they were able to get the bear out,” said Lake County Fire spokesperson Kelly Lassollette.

The cub — who suffered from minor burns to its paws and face — will be evaluated by Florida Fish and Wildlife officers before deciding how to rehabilitate the animal and release him back into the wild.
His mother was not found during the 200 acre brush fire.
